Why should I choose Dellarte Press over other book publishers?
Publishing with Dellarte Press is extremely easy, efficient, professional and affordable. Expert publishing and design consultants will guide you every step of the way through the entire publishing process. However, our unique approach to the publishing process allows you to retain the rights to your book so you can continue to promote your book through other avenues while still publishing with Dellarte Press. This allows you to select the royalty amount you earn when someone purchases your book as well as reap any other financial benefits if you sell your rights to a film production company or some other opportunity. Additionally, you maintain creative control of what happens to your book; nothing changes without your approval.
Authors who publish with Dellarte Press will have their books available for purchase from the Dellarte Press online bookstore and available at more than 25,000 retailers worldwide, including Amazon.com and BarnesandNoble.com. Dellarte Press also provides authors the opportunity to reach readers on a global scale through the Ingram Book Group. Our books are available to the author, retailers and customers on demand, so there is no need for the author to store unnecessary copies or pay a warehousing fee. By providing extensive and forward-looking marketing and publicity services, expert editorial and creative tools and clean book design, Dellarte Press can help aspiring authors achieve their dreams.

What is the difference between self-publishing, digital publishing and traditional publishing?
Self-publishing allows the author to remain in complete control over the finished product because the author decides what text, images, fonts, editorial changes, etc. are made to the book. Also with self-publishing, the author retains the rights to his/her manuscript, the timeline from start to finish is much quicker, royalties and book prices are set by the author, no agents are needed and the author has access to additional services he/she may choose to purchase.
Digital publishing is book publishing that is only done online. There are no hard copies printed for books that are digitally published. Instead, books are uploaded and published online. Readers pay to download digital copies of books onto portable, wireless readers or their personal computers. A good example of digital publishing is Carina Press.
Typically in traditional publishing, an author’s agent will submit a manuscript to a publishing house for publication. If a publishing house likes the manuscript or portion of the manuscript they see they will pay the author an advance and buy the rights to the manuscript. Then, the publishing house will have full control over changes in the book and the cover design. Once the book is published the author will receive royalties from any books sold.

Who handles the ISBN?
An ISBN for your work is registered under Dellarte Press and is included with each Dellarte Press publishing package. The ISBN will be inserted on the copyright page and on the back cover of the book with the bar code. The bar code is a digital image sellers can scan to identify the ISBN. Visit www.isbn.org for more detailed information about ISBN.

Can I publish my book with Dellarte Press and another publisher, too?
Yes. We have non-exclusive agreements with our authors so the rights to your book remain yours. You are welcome to publish your book with another publisher, contact a film production company and sell your rights to them or explore other opportunities. These guidelines also apply to your book if it is currently available through another publisher or if you want to publish your book with another company in the future. The only restriction we place on you is that you cannot use the book files we create to print the book exactly as it is with another publisher.

What are the advantages of POD (Print On Demand)?
Here are some specific advantages of using POD:
- Easy and cost-effective to produce books as they are ordered, either one at a time or in large numbers.
- Unlike a traditional printer which can only print a large number of books at one time, POD is an “as needed” printer
- No wasted books
- No need to store a large inventory of books
- A book can be available for an extended period of time, instead of the book being "out of print" after one print run.

How does the royalty work?
Royalties are based on the payments we actually receive from the sale of printed or electronic (e-book) copies of your book, minus any shipping and handling charges or sales and use taxes. Also, we offer discounts to retail and wholesale customers, so the royalty amount you receive depends on what type of customer bought your book and any discount they received.
Here's an example of a common sales transaction:
The cover price (list price) for your 175 page softcover book is $11.99.
Your Dellarte Press royalty rate is 50 percent (after COGS) on all softcover, hardcover and e-book sales.
A retailer places an order for your book through Ingram Book Company, a wholesaler.
Ingram, in turn, purchases your book from Dellarte Press at a 48 percent discount (our standard discount to wholesalers). Ingram then resells the book to the retailer.
Here is an example of how your royalty is calculated:
$11.99 (SRP "Suggested Retail Price")
- $5.76 (48% Retail Discount)
= $6.23 (Net)
- $3.81 (COGS "Cost of Goods Sold")
= $2.42 (Gross)
x 50% (Royalty Rate)
= $1.21 (Royalty Earned)
You should be aware that the largest retailers, including Barnes & Noble, Amazon and most Borders stores, place orders for Dellarte Press titles through Ingram. Those orders will appear as wholesale sales on your royalty statement.
