Even though your work is immediately copyrighted to you upon completion of your manuscript, that does not mean your work is fully protected from someone stealing it. The only way to absolutely protect your work is to register it with the U.S. Copyright Office.
When you purchase this service, Dellarte Press will complete the necessary paperwork and submit it along with two required copies of your book to the U.S. Copyright Office. Once registration is complete, you will receive the official copy of the copyright registration that verifies your book is covered under U.S. Copyright regulations.
Timeline:
- Approximately two weeks after your book goes live (or after the contract date if your title is already live), two copies of the book will be ordered and shipped to Dellarte Press
- Copyright forms will be filled out and shipped with the two copies of your book to the U.S. Copyright Office
- Anywhere from six to 12 months later Dellarte Press will receive a completed Certificate of Registration.
- Dellarte Press will record your U.S. Copyright number and then mail the original certificate to you.
