The cover of your book is like the ads on Thanksgiving Day for Black Friday shopping – a sneak peek of what is to come. A customized, one-of-a-kind cover reflects what is inside the book and gives you as the author a leg up in the competitive book market.
In the Enhanced Cover Design package your book's cover will create a unique cover according to your ideas and industry standards. Instead of relying on templates as used in our Standard Cover, your designer will create an original cover by incorporating your photos, graphics and ideas.

With the Enhanced Cover, we will include the book’s title, subtitle (if any), author name(s), additional marketing copy and your customized artwork. You can include any of your ideas, images or text for your cover with your submission. If you have a very specific vision in mind, you can browse our stock photo collection at JI Unlimited, or you can provide your own image. To ensure your cover images are of the strongest quality, cover graphics you supply to us must meet the following requirements:
- TIFF (.tif) file format
- CMYK colorspace
- 300-dpi resolution
- Match the dimension of the final trim size, plus an 1/8” bleed on the top, right and bottom side (i.e., a cover image for a 6” x 9” book would need to be submitted at 6.125” x 9.25”)
- Copyright permission from the creator (artist, photographer, etc.) to use the work on your book cover
- Exception to the above: Sample graphics and other illustrations that will only be used as ideas or guidelines for the design team can be submitted in any format
You may also include the following items with your submission for inclusion on the back cover:
- Author bio (no more than 50 words)
- Marketing copy (no more than 200 words)
- One to four published reviews (no more than 50 words each, including the credit line)
- A photo of the author. If submitted it must meet the following requirements:
- TIFF (.tif) or JPEG (.jpg) format
- CMYK colorspace
- 300-dpi resolution
- 600 x 600 pixels (if JPEG)
- 2” x 2” printed size
Should you require changes or adjustment to your cover after receiving the first proof copy, one round of changes is included in the Enhanced Cover service. We can continue to adjust your cover as many times as you'd like for a small corrections fee until you are happy with the final version of your cover and give your final approval.
